IDK, maybe I'm a mushbrain but it seems like if someone said they're the chairman of the board, and you told them to their face "well it's not like you run the company..." they'd finish their drink and go talk to someone else for the rest of the night.
I just watched Benn Jordan's video about Flock's (numerous) vulnerabilities last night. Pretty crazy to think what people can do with these if they can get their hands on them.
I mean who cares about their vulnerabilities? I'm more concerned they simply exist and attempting to put 24/7 surveillance on everyone, the whole concept is rotten. I trust the hackers more lol
I switched to Apple Music and haven't looked back. The UX isn't great, but the audio quality alone was worth the switch for me. It also actually shuffles your music instead of cycling through the same small subset of songs.
I use Apple Music too. I recently noticed it randomly playing videos, though. I can't hide the overlay despite the checkbox being unchecked for "keep video playback on top of all other windows". Apparently the only way to disable it is via Screen Time, by which you disable video as a content entirely. So weird.
I was talking to some coworkers in another room, came back to my desk and a song by Lotta and Doja Cat was playing and the video was like 3/4 of my screen. It was pretty NSFW. No idea why it played a video without me explicitly pressing play on it.
Long story short, Apple Music generally does the trick but stuff like this kind of kills me. Coworkers probably think I'm a pervert. Song wasn't great either.
I've thought about alternatives but I pay for Apple One and really don't want another subscription.
We have more homeless, more crime, and more wars, to start. We also have generally heavier humans, and we use more petrol per capita. We are definitely beating them on having less electric vehicles. We had a fight cage on the whiteHouse lawn. Our president is really orange, if that counts. We are definitely pissing off way more countries than they are. More Indians are angry at us than China, and there are a lot of Indians. I know if I keep thinking, I can find something significant....
Oh, and we definitely have them beat on diversity. We win easily there.
We don't produce much, so I know it's not that. Our education is pretty good at the top, but not so much at the bottom, and I am not sure if the top is mostly foreigners or natives, not that it would matter, cause I don't think it's education either. I think America has a larger gross domestic bicep? Probably. Ah! We had a bit more freedom during covid! And we abducted a sitting president. And we'll soon own Cuba, Greenland, and Mesopotamia. Our healthcare is way more expensive than theirs. No competition. Leading on many fronts.
But it's not a fair fight, cause they have more than twice our population. In few more years, we'll have 'em whipped on the homeless race, guaranteed - wait, we did that already. And we'll definitely be paying more for fuel, possibly food, and everything. Honestly, I don't think they stand a chance.
Seems like we could lead in AI development, and then immediately get trounced by economic factors. But yeah, autonomous cars, solar infrastructure, hell, general education.

I installed Zed and tested out a bunch of fonts on my 1440p monitor. It looks decent, but not great. I think that's more a byproduct of Windows' awful font rendering in general though moreso than a Zed specific problem. VSCode is no better.
Seems like the only way to get high quality font rendering these days is a 4k+ display.
I agree that certain schemes overdo it with highlighting, but I disagree with his statements that things like function calls and keywords shouldn't be highlighted. Basically, if everything is important then nothing is; but I still want my code to be easily scannable. Right now I'm using using a version of Solarized that uses the default VSCode syntax highlighting and it's been pretty great.
