The appimage also produces no sound :(

> but does it bring anything new to the table?

No, but that's the point. It has all of the good parts of a smart phone, none of the bad ones. Do other dumb phones run Signal or Maps?

The Punkt. MP02 runs Signal-compatible encrypted messaging, no Maps though: https://www.punkt.ch/products/mp02-4g-minimalist-phone

CAN is a protocol, but the messages on the bus are implementation specific. Yes, you can use it on any CAN bus, but there's no guarantee that you will be able to decode the traffic. Some modern CAN networks are encrypted, too, because it's trivial to view the traffic. https://kentindell.github.io/2021/01/02/can2-wireshark/ has a great guide on decoding traffic with sigrok.

> The us did recently announce that is has technology that can manipulate space and time or something.

Do you have more on this?

Google "us announces it can manipulate space and time"

That was spoken as a metaphor and not a reference to actual tech. They have surveillance capabilities to review massive timelines of events and people movement (time), and capabilities to see through things or generate models of places (space).

The point is, it sounds really powerful. Like some space age technology but I manipulate space and time by farting or eating a pizza.

I think the implication was the US can insert itself anywhere at any time and no one can stop it.

The similarities are pretty strong as is. The method of images https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Method_of_images is used in both electrodynamics and aerodynamics because you can model sources and sinks for E fields and fluid flows using the exact same equations. Personally, EM didn't really click until I saw the vector calculus of EM applied to fluids.

Maytag commercial makes old-school washers + dryers with no PCBs. The control boards are through-hole components only and a schematic is included inside the panels. https://www.maytagcommerciallaundry.com/mclstorefront/mcl/en...

Samsung sells commercial monitors that are just TVs without all the smart crap. You can even opt out of a wifi card

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1828914-REG/samsung_q...

I'm not aware of any lists, and the market is thin, but they're out there.

Making a note of Samsung; I've had the worst time looking for large, dumb monitors. I've returned about 4 now due to the obnoxious boot times, incompatibility, menu trees, ads(!), etc.

Ads in a monitor?? How does that even work?

For the curious, I checked some prices on the maytags - a little less than 3,000 USD for the front loader, the Speed Queen commercial ones were cheaper.

I think because you're a new account and you're posting a lot of links, your posts are likely getting hidden. I've vouched for them where I can and hopefully other people with showdead on will see them and vouch for them too.
