But it does have some very cool features built in I haven't seen rolled in elsewhere. Sessions can talk to one another out of the box. Two left arrows and you see all the sessions. Automatic remote control to pick up a session from another computer or even on your phone. So convenient!

I built a small little app for a company which transcribes all their customer service calls, does an AI review, makes a podcast of the most problematic ones (they LOVE this.) Probably 20 hours a day of transcription.

What are people using for cheap hosted models for this? (I don't want to run my own infrastructure.)

I'm currently using Gemini Flash Lite. I don't need real time, it's all batched, clear english... still costs some small $ a month. Figured it should be able to be reduced if there are cheaper models out there....

I scrape them from their crappy VOIP system as WAV files, then send them through the API....

What's good about it? I use OpenCode and it does what I need, basically.

Spawning subagents via orchestrate and using /advisor are both super valuable. Haven't really unlocked the full capability of omp yet, but hoping to over time.

Second Grist it is very cool we use a lot of it. You can run python as a column/ cell and it doesn't have a lot of the limitations of Airtable. Usage tiers are ridiculously large. Free api. I am almost hoping they charge more so they stay in business.

Honestly the "charge by data" is probably missing some things. We have quite a few users on the free tier. I found out my ops guys were optimizing the data to keep on the free tier because it would jump from zero to [something still reasonable] but would be a multiple of seats. They would pay you SOMETHING but the big jump to MORE seemed too much for them lol.

They are on Grist by my recommendation after searching for tools. I just checked in on it after 6 months and they have built their entire manufacturing process management on it... Good stuff.

I wonder if it will work well as a "travel" computer? I could see leaving my laptop at home and taking this and a keyboard? Also it looks like it would be fabulous as an e-reader too, so I can drop Kindle and replace with keyboard in the bag.

It probably could. Wait till the 3rd generation where it will eventually end up growing in size such that unfolded it'll be equivalent in size to an 11" iPad.

That said, your view that they need "trauma" to get in is very wrong. You need to find a hook. The hook should be positive and not negative. (Why should they let you in to the private club?)
