It's probably a good idea to reduce phone computing to a minimum. Also the larger phone will likely damage your vision to need glasses eventually but there are other ergonomic factors at play. Do you want to hold your phone with two hands? Doesn't it get tiring for wrists to hold the phone in the position? I personally reduced phone usage but am still using a SE2022 which is a small phone. For reading I got a e ink reader and Im very happy with that.
Yes, America (the US) is still beating China in the AI race, but it's got no way to keep the Chinese models from catching up. Also the amount of money burned in the US on AI is unfathomable. From that metric China may as well win with minimal investment and very little waste.
There’s a difference between on-topic discussions relevant to the post and “discussions” that veer off into the same emotional tribal rants that we see constantly now. We try to ignore it but the constant negativity and “us vs them” is not healthy, let alone meaningful discussion.
Perhaps when AI is better to just guide the student to slove a problem rather than spell out the answer for them. In that sense an AI tutor that is well designed for this specific task would be infinitely patient and explain in many ways till the student gets it. We're not there yet so I applaud the current ban.

This should be done by youtube themselves. It's so simple for them to label AI generated content so people can either look for it or avoid it but they won't do it. I'm not sure how they profit from AI gen videos over regular videos...
I was looking for a setting to turn off Youtube Shorts but there's no way to do it, it's like that by design, Youtube want to shove those in your face so you click on it, even if by accident. Luckily I found a free app to do it (IOS). I absolutely appreciate the effort people put into fighting these companies back.
In the mobile app you can go to Settings > Time Management > Daily Limits > Shorts feed limit and set it to 0 minutes. It removes all shorts from your home feed.
If you click on a short, or the shorts tab you see "you reached your Shorts feed limit".
And if you click on the subcriptions tab theres only one section of shorts at the top and they don't show up again when you scroll down.

I put out shortless [0] for the very same reason...I just hate them. This works only on Safari, but I stopped using the native app altogether a long time ago, so it wasn't that big of a jump for me :)
LLMs are bad at not inventing stuff (hallucinating facts, sources etc), they're also bad at not over explaining, remembering details reliably, asking the right question and avoiding repetition.
