Thought-provoking comment thanks. I love the point about other cultural movements.

But honestly, I would dispute the starting quote here; who has any evidence that most intellectuals are nerds? I might more easily accept that most nerds grew into intellectuals, but I’m pretty skeptical that most intellectual always have been nerds.

AI summary:

> Nerd culture used to be a stepping stone for many curious people—they might start with science fiction, fantasy, or comics, then branch into philosophy, literature, history, and art. Now that nerd culture has become mainstream and endlessly rewarding on its own, more people stay immersed in fictional worlds instead of expanding into broader intellectual pursuits.

It’s an interesting idea. I’m skeptical though. And I’m not sure if there’s any way to measure this I would guess there’s more intellectuals than there’s ever been before due to increasing populations and literary literacy rates and access.

Ideally a bunch of uncontrollable Demi-gods roam around us?

A lot of this is just talking past each other. AI being good enough to write 99% of your code but then you still complain about it sucking. Glass half full vs half empty.

Good shit, anal reactor.

Dinky stuff I want to be fast like “update the PR with this other JIRA ticket”

Same, at first, I thought it would be something like Glean for enterprise information joining to follow feature delivery or something and then I saw terminal and I gave up.

It’s also always been private companies doing the building no? Just funding and ownership could be public.

What’s the detachment of the home have to do with it?

It specifies that these are not condos, these are homes on lots. "Normal" people live on properties with a yard, not apartments

I guess us "Normal" people prefer to discuss all relevant information and not just post jaded comments that defy reality

I still don’t understand sorry.

Wouldn’t detached homes still need electricians and carpenters and their pricing be impacted by their demand elsewhere?

It’s human nature.

Nature != Good

We miss that much of the time, and it causes all manner of suffering.
