I downvoted the parent comment, but maybe I shouldn't have. Church is a pretty great place to network; I'm pretty sure my old boss got 90% of our contracts via churchy connections.
I'm an agnostic, but the parent comment is not a bad idea; I've gotten a tech job via church connections before. (I attend church because I'm a professional singer; lots of us have church gigs.)
